SMO Review: Da Deputy - Checkmate EP

Fort Worth MC Da Deputy recently dropped his DJ Johnny Rip hosted EP entitled Checkmate. The 10-track project offers a very motivational feel from beginning to end. Da Deputy showcases his message using many punchlines and lyrical flows. Read the entire review after the jump.
For having a Texas background, Da Deputy brings a new generation of sound for the state. Displaying a ton of wordplay and lots of potential makes him an MC to keep watch for. One of the highlight tracks off the EP is "PROgress" produced by Yo Asel. Using a sample from Elle Varner's "Refill", the track surrounds you with the overall theme or concept of the EP which is: progression, motivation, and improvement. Another track that is thoroughly enjoyed is "HomieLoverFriends" produced by Dre Eazy. Speaking about glorifying a beautiful, inside and out, partner of the opposite sex is very relateable amongst many. The Bizarre (of D12) featured track "Throw It Back" is also one that we recommend for your weekend nights. Adding a couple tracks for clubs and parties to really enjoy make this a very complete EP. The project offers something for everyone, it doesn't box you in with one sound or one flow. We highly recommend you give Checkmate a listen and download the EP to your music device while your at it.
