Note To SELF

Once I graduated from high school, I thought a lot of the gossip, down talk, and other irrelevant words would be left behind. I totally thought wrong. From social media to the job site, it gets worse. So many humans concern themselves with other humans problems, which is not necessary. Take the time out your day and see what YOU have to work on and what areas of SELF needs improvement. Read the entire message after the jump.
Self is defined as a person or thing referred to with respect to complete individuality. Seems simple to understand, right? Sure. Why is self so important? Self is important because it's all yours. At birth, we arrive alone, minus doctors and family and when you die, you leave with self. Everything else between that time period matters, only if you let it.
In our modern time it's easy to criticize the next person, bring someone down emotionally to your level or beneath, or to make a person feel unworthy of something they have or don't have. With so many new ways to socially interact in this world, it's hard for many to stop and reflect on "self". Maybe many just don't know how or some may be scared to meet their inner self. It's a question that ponders my mind from time to time and I'm sure has a plethora of answers.
Over the past three years I've become more aware of who I truly am. For a introvert, like myself, it took getting outside of my comfort zone and learning to meditate. Our youth seems to be troubled in those two areas. We could only understand why. Leaving your comfort zone may cause an uneasy feeling, shock, anxiety, or something worse. You aren't alone. Millions of young people feel the same and maybe a third of the population take that gigantic step towards change.
This is where meditation comes into play. This is a powerful tool that can open you're mind to a place you've never been or heard off. Spending time alone can aid to finding that inner peace you've been eager to feel and dilute all the unnecessary extra from life. There are a ton of media outlets that help in self-awareness and explains how it can work for you.
You were brought into this world with YOU, not the broke boyfriend, not the scandalous stripper, not the drug addict best friend, or the nymphomaniac. I encourage viewers to stop, breathe, and stray away from topics that don't soak in positively with yourself.
