Music's Modern Effect On Youth by Vuddha

Music and its musicians play such a major role in our modern youth's culture. Read Vuddha's take on the negative consequences and influences music adds to youth culture after the jump.

My editor asked, “How does hip-hop negatively effect the youth?”

Huge question. Blogger’s attention spans are too short. So I'll hone in on a single obvious angle.

Women Empowerment.

Hip-hop is heavily Christian. You only need to read Genesis to see the stance this religion takes concerning women.
“Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” Genesis 3:16

You’re telling me some weak ass man didn’t write this?

Men fear women. Reproductively the Women are God. They create life. Men offer the seed. Women are the earth.

This subliminal disempowerment of women through Christianity bleeds into Hip-Hop. I don’t need to lament on what artists say about women. Just turn on the radio.

I’ve seen babies twerking. Goddamn four year old's shaking their ass.

Hip-Hop is a powerfully influential media for most lower class Americans. Artists need to take the responsibility of being influences and put out art that empowers these people. Help these people.

On the flip side, Consumer...explore the Internet. There is beautiful and soulful and unique music to be found. Fuck the radio. Fuck the radio. Fuck the radio.
