Mixtape Review: Cyhi the Prynce - Ivy League: Kick Back

One of the mixtapes that continues to stay my rotation of music is Cyhi the Prynce's Ivy League: Kick Back.  Clever bars, endless punchlines, and detailed story telling give this project worth a listen. Read the entire review after the jump.

Themed around attending Havard University, mixed with an Atlanta up-bringing gives this mixtape 4 O's out of 5.
4/5 O's
On this project Cyhi takes us through his life battling between going back to the street life or continuing to be a successful hip hop artist. Tracks like "Far Removed", produced by Lex Luger and "Favorite Things" produced by The Audibles, shows how this conflicted lifestyle affects him in a very detailed way. In "Favorite Things" you hear Cyhi say:
"Every time I'm round my partners, this is what I talk about.
Pistols, and robberies and strippers from follies,
a few bricks from papi, Lambos and Rarri's,
Chevys and Caddy's and Cutless Supremes.
These are a few of my favorite things"
Explaining how the life he once was used can never be taken away. As we continue through this project we come upon a party or shall I say a "kick-back". Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. make an appearance, providing perfect verses for "We Drink, We Smoke". A song about the perfect party, beautiful women, good smoke, and alcohol. The mixtape slowly begins to fade into a more chill, player vibe going into tracks like "Sexy" featuring Diamond and "Freak B****" This is where you hear a lot more wordplay and a smoother flow. To sum up this body of work, I feel it's a complete project. It has everything you would want to hear as you go through your daily routine.
